We have put together some Woodstock Festival inspired looks, on set with models Jen and Sarah, with original vintage pieces from Poppy Vintage and Indian 1960s inspired fashion from C_Atomic Geeta.
We had planned this shoot a couple of weeks previously, but in typical festival style the weather was awful and our shoot got rained off! As much as we were ready to embrace the British festival weather, we decided to wait until it was dry, as we didn’t want to get muddy in these lovey outfits!
Our location is the fabulous Wheal Tor, located in the remote area of Bodmin Moor in Cornwall and surrounded by moorland, trees, sheep and wildlife. Wheal Tor has a range of accommodation available to rent, including a showman’s wagon, hobbit houses, log cabins, glamping tiki tents and hotel rooms and there is an outdoor hot tub and cosy restaurant and bar with a log fire. It is the perfect location for a romantic getaway or a trip with friends to enjoy the nature and wake up surrounded by rolling fields and wildlife – as well as the resident pigs! It is at the highest point in Cornwall, so you can enjoy views of the moors right across to Plymouth and the site is conveniently located close to the beach.
In front of the showman’s wagon, Jen is wearing a 1960s inspired lace cut out dress by C_Atomic. This is one of my favourite from the collection and has beautiful open sleeves. Jen also wears a long line dress, hand painted with a peacock design by Shweta Rohira via C_Atomic, alongside Sarah in an original vintage green 1960s dress by Poppy Vintage. The showman’s carriage has a lovely retro and fun feel and it has its own private decking area outside, where a fire pit awaits you in the evenings. Sarah is pictured next to Jen in a very colourful playsuit with flared trousers and beautiful floral detail while Jen is pictured in a front split dress by C_Atomic. Separately, Jen sports a burgundy vintage sleeved dress and a bag by C_Atomic and Sarah a yellow striped casual vintage 60s dress, both from Poppy Vintage.
As we move to the Hobbit Houses on site, Jen wears a long line floral number in chiffon by C_Atomic and a pink shirt with ruffle detail and matching waistcoat. Together, Jen wears a casual blue summer dress with pockets from Poppy Vintage and a waistcoat from C_Atomic for detail, while Sarah wears a silk printed long colourful dress from C_Atomic. Sarah is also pictured wearing a gingham vintage dress with crochet shawl. We have styled these outfits with the model’s own hat and jewellery to compliment. Wellies are a great festival look and many of these outfits look great with Wellington boots. Wheal Tor has a number of Hobbit Houses, sleeping up to 4 guests, and available to rent from one night only.
At the Tipi Glamping Tent Sarah wears a vintage black and blue spot dress in chiffon and a burgundy short dress, which are both original vintage from Poppy Vintage. These tents have a double bed and their own fireplace, to keep warm on a chilly autumn evening. In the surrounding woodland, Sarah is wearing an Indian printed summer dress from C_Atomic and later a vintage black and white spot number, whilst Jen wears a white dress from C_Atomic. The pigs live at Wheal Tor (before they are sadly made into sausages); they are very friendly and one even gave me a kiss on the cheek! We headed up to meet them, with Jen wearing a short button front playsuit by Poppy Vintage and Sarah in a denim effect cotton strapless dress by C_Atomic.
The pieces showcased by Poppy Vintage are all original vintage and in original condition, all items featured are a modern day size 6-10 and are available for purchase by contacting Marlene at Poppy Vintage directly by email or phone. All items are cleaned and pressed and ready to be worn.
The outfits by C_Atomic Geeta are available to order in a range of sizes via the web store. These garments are made in India and designed by Geeta Handa, who takes inspiration from her Indian heritage as well as the shapes and fashions of the 50s, 60s and 70s.
We hope you enjoy the last little sparkle of summer with a vintage shimmer!
