This gem of a boutique hotel is situated in Congleton, a small market town in South-East Cheshire – which just happens to be the home of Vintage Life Magazine!
The Alexandra Court was taken over by Andrew Bourne (a former Head pastry chef at prestigious establishments in London such as Claridges and The Lanesborough hotel) and his partner Mark Bell who has a background in human resources and IT management in December 24th last year no less.
Nestled in manicured gardens, the hotel is the perfect venue for an intimate wedding with a personal touch. With the boutique interiors guests can unwind in the fully licensed lounge bar, relax in the privacy of one of the 14 bedrooms or simply chill out on the terrace.
As part of the change, a new tea room and coffee lounge (named the ‘The Owls’ after a family of owls nesting in the gardens) opened at the beginning of April offering a fine selection of teas, coffees, home bakes, light lunches and off course hand crafted pastries. As well as weddings the hotel also caters for functions in either a formal or buffet setting.
Congleton itself has fantastic access routes to the M6 and surrounding areas and is only 25 miles away from Manchester and is easily accessible by train or car. Chester, Stoke-on-Trent and the Peak District are also close by with . There are also many fine National Trust and English Heritage properties nearby such as Tatton Park, Lyme Park, Biddulph Grange Gardens and Little Moreton Hall. Jodrell Bank with its famous Lovell telescope is also close by.
The Alexandra Court Hotel is well worth a visit. Andrew and Mark are wonderful hosts and nothing is too much trouble. The hotel was the location for a photo shoot that our editor Rachel was involved with for Cheshire Life Magazine earlier this year and they could not have been more accommodating and definitely offers a comfortable stay for guests.
